Solar
Energy Converts Sunlight into Electricity using Photovoltaic
(PV) Cells.
Solar Energy (PV) was first discovered in 1839:
‘‘One must not believe that the idea of using solar
heat is recent. On the contrary, one must recognize that
this idea is very ancient, and in its slow development across
centuries it
has given birth to various curious devices.’’
- Augustin Mouchot 1860
Solar Energy - Built to Last:
Photovoltaic cells were originally developed for use on satellites
traveling in space that would need power over a long period of
time. In space, repair on any component on any craft or satellite
is extremely expensive, and if the craft is far away, it is virtually
impossible. So solar cells and modules had to be built to last
- and they have. Nearly all satellites are powered by solar energy,
and ones that were launched over 3 decades ago are still going
strong today.
There are several types of Solar Energy Systems provided
by Astralux to accompany nearly every residential and commercial
customer, the most common setups are:
It is only in the last decade with better technology,
efficiency, and incentives that Solar Energy has become
a reliable and cost-effective source of electricity.
